Modders Port GTA 5 Natively To Original Nintendo Switch

A modding group called Paralympics Productions has successfully run Grand Theft Auto 5 natively on the original Nintendo Switch. This achievement stems from a homebrew port built using the game's 2023 leaked source code. Rockstar Games never officially released GTA 5 on Switch hardware, despite the title's 2013 debut on PS3 and Xbox 360. By reverse-engineering the leaked "Legacy" source, the team recompiled the game's logic for Arm architecture, allowing it to run directly on the Switch's Tegra X1 chip without an Android layer or emulation.

Performance requires a jailbroken and overclocked console. At stock speeds, the game struggles between 10 and 25 FPS. However, pushing the CPU, GPU, and memory past their limits via tools like sys-clk stabilizes the frame rate at 30 FPS. The installation size is approximately 49GB. Paralympics Productions has released several patches and is reportedly developing an Android port. Notably, this technical feat does not guarantee GTA 6 will arrive on Switch 2, as it relies entirely on the specific leaked source code.
