Constitution Hill finished a well-beaten fourth to Pride Of Arras in the Group Three William Hill September Stakes at Kempton Park. The Nicky Henderson-trained star, making his third Flat start after wins at Southwell and Kempton earlier this year, was sent off 9-2 favourite but could not quicken when asked for his effort two furlongs out. Ralph Beckett's Pride Of Arras (11-2) swept to victory by a length over Gethin, with Billy Loughnane aboard the beaten favourite.

Henderson ruled out a Melbourne Cup bid, stating: "Melbourne is gone now sadly." He indicated the horse will likely run over 12-14 furlongs in handicaps, adding: "He's going to be eligible to run in handicaps now and it will be interesting to see what the reaction on Tuesday is." Henderson insisted the horse is "by no means finished yet."

For Pride Of Arras, a trip to the Canadian International at Woodbine is now planned. Beckett revealed the horse had battled a foot issue earlier in the season but looked "a million dollars" before today. He praised the Kempton crowd, saying: "It's great that the crowds have come out and we're in the entertainment business."
