Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have purchased The Turf pub adjacent to Wrexham's Racecourse ground to "protect the future of the club." Wrexham AFC was founded at the then-named Turf Hotel in October 1864, making it the oldest football club in Wales. The pub and its landlord Wayne Jones have become regular features on the award-winning 'Welcome to Wrexham' docuseries.

A club statement said the acquisition preserves the history and traditions of the historic public house linked to the Racecourse Ground since 1864. It also allows further investment into the fan experience, including enhancements to the fan zone on Mold Road. The move continues the strategy to ring-fence key areas related to the club's life.

The Racecourse Ground staged its first Wales fixture in March 1877 and is the world's oldest football stadium still hosting international matches. Eric Allyn, on behalf of minority investors the Allyn family, said the town, community, and club have become a second home since their 2024 investment through Red Dragon Ventures. Wrexham confirmed landlord Jones will continue running the pub as part of the deal.
