The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) announced Monday it will not support Gianni Infantino's bid for a final term as FIFA president through 2031, citing transparency and governance failures. The decision stems from two controversies: FIFA's aborted plan to sell World Cup stakes to private equity for $4.2 billion via the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), and the controversial deferral of Folarin Balogun's one-game red card ban at the World Cup.

RBFA president Pascale Van Damme stated that two months after the Balogun incident — where a ban was lifted following a call from U.S. President Donald Trump, allowing the striker to face Belgium in a quarterfinal-deciding match — questions remain unanswered. Belgium won the match 4-1. The federation has requested the Balogun case be added to the FIFA Council agenda on Oct. 15.

UEFA has led opposition to Infantino, threatening tournament boycotts and preparing a criminal complaint over the FFE proposal. The English FA and other national associations have also withdrawn support, though the Saudi federation backs Infantino "at this time."
