The Liberty became the first No. 8 seed to eliminate a No. 1 seed in the league's 30-year history.

A sellout crowd of 17,593 at Madison Square Garden rally behind Stewart, chanting "M-V-P!" after she drew a flagrant foul. Minnesota's star rookie Olivia Miles struggled, scoring only five points on 5-of-13 shooting.
