LSU star defensive end Princewill Umanmielen was served with court papers in the parking lot outside LSU's football facility on Tuesday, ahead of Saturday's No. 7 LSU vs. No. 8 Ole Miss showdown. The legal action stems from a lawsuit filed by Ole Miss on July 27, seeking close to $1 million in penalties from Umanmielen and LSU offensive lineman Devin Harper for allegedly breaching revenue sharing contracts. Ole Miss claims Umanmielen signed a contract to return on Jan. 3, entered the transfer portal Jan. 20, and signed with LSU Jan. 21, triggering penalties for leaving within a 90-day window.

Harper allegedly signed to stay on Jan. 6, entered the portal Jan. 14, and signed with LSU Jan. 16. Neither player responded to payment requests within the 30-day deadline. Ole Miss officials stated they value student-athletes and expect contractual commitment, while LSU and the players have not commented further.

The lawsuit is viewed as partly aimed at pressuring LSU over its revenue sharing cap. Umanmielen, a senior from Austin, Texas, previously played two seasons at Nebraska before joining Ole Miss in 2025 and leads FBS with five sacks in two games for LSU.
