Apple today released the third public betas of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, allowing anyone with a compatible device to download and test the new software. The betas come two weeks after Apple seeded the second betas. To install, sign up on Apple's beta website, then go to Settings > General > Software Update and choose the public beta option.

iOS 27 introduces Siri AI, a more capable version of Siri that can search the web, access personal information, see your screen, and take actions across apps. It's similar to Claude or ChatGPT with a dedicated Siri app for conversations. Siri AI requires a device that supports Apple Intelligence.

The Liquid Glass design now has a transparency slider. New AI features include Visual Intelligence in the Camera app for nutritional info or splitting bills, and Write with Siri for text generation. The Photos app gets AI editing tools, Safari auto-organizes tabs, and you can create Shortcuts and extensions using natural language. AirPods have custom EQ, the Home app supports 4K cameras, and there are new child safety controls. Apple made dozens of performance improvements, making everything feel faster on older iPhones.
