Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro models and the iPhone Duo, its first foldable device, both featuring the new custom C2 modem with 5G support. Contrary to speculation, the C2 modem includes mmWave 5G in the U.S., eliminating the need for Qualcomm in these models. However, the C2 is limited to the smaller iPhone 18 Pro, while the Pro Max still uses Qualcomm, though the reason remains unclear.

The C2 offers AI-powered cellular improvements, faster uploads, and 15% less energy consumption than the C1X. Both devices also include the N1 wireless chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, the Pro Max at $1,299, and the Duo at $1,999, with pre-orders beginning September 12 and availability on October 16.
