The September Pixel Drop introduced a nasty bug affecting lockscreen input on multiple Pixel models. Users report that the screen resets before they can complete their pattern or PIN, with some facing lockouts after failed attempts.

One Reddit user with a Pixel 10 Pro XL couldn't connect the second dot of their pattern before the screen reset. Another found a workaround by hard restarting, but the first had to factory reset. Similar issues are reported on Pixel 8a and 8 Pro with PIN locks, showing a "wrong PIN" error after the first digit.

The root cause appears to be the lockscreen accepting input too early, before the user finishes entering their credentials. This is odd since one-segment patterns and one-number PINs aren't allowed. After several failed attempts, the phone locks the user out for minutes.

Google's official support account, Pixel Community, has contacted affected users. Additionally, Pixel 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 owners report lag after the update. If you haven't installed the September Pixel Drop, consider waiting for a fixed version.
