MediaTek announced its Dimensity 9600 Pro flagship smartphone processor is built using TSMC's 2-nanometer N2P process, placing it ahead of rival Qualcomm, which is expected to adopt the same process with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The chip features a 2+3+3 All Big Core CPU design, delivering 17 percent faster single-core and 15 percent faster multi-core performance while reducing multi-core power consumption by 61 percent. A dual-NPU architecture combines GPU and AI computing with an Agentic AI Engine for on-device AI, promising 27 percent higher gaming peak performance, 18 percent faster raytracing, and 24 percent lower peak power consumption.

Devices support up to 4K 120 fps video capture. MediaTek, which it calls the number one mobile chipset manufacturer with a larger market value than Qualcomm, counts Oppo, Xiaomi, Samsung, Motorola, and Realme among its brand partners. Apple also revealed at its Surprise and Shine event that its new i Phone 18 models use TSMC's 2-nanometer process.
