Apple's tvOS 27 update brings a redesigned Podcasts app, better Apple Music audio, new accessibility features, and smaller improvements to Apple TV.

Apple TV updates are modest compared to other Apple products, especially after the major Liquid Glass redesign in tvOS 26. Still, tvOS 27 has worthwhile additions for Apple Music and Podcasts users.

The Podcasts app gets a complete redesign with a new sidebar and support for video podcasts. Smart downloads automatically download episodes. Apple Music adds Hi-Res Lossless audio and Auto Mix for continuous transitions between songs on Apple TV and HomePod.

Accessibility gains larger onscreen text through settings. Animations and app launches are smoother, and Control Center is more responsive.

To update Apple TV: Settings > System > Software Updates > Update Software. For HomePod, update via the Home app under Home Settings > Software Update.
