CNN, MS Now and Politico announced Monday they are suing the Trump administration after President Donald Trump revoked their journalists’ White House credentials. The outlets said the ban was imposed without notice or process because the administration objected to their reporting, calling it a threat to press freedom and the public’s right to independent journalism. They seek a temporary restraining order to restore press access and halt further exclusion.

The lawsuit alleges the president and his team targeted the organizations for editorial viewpoints disfavored by the administration, causing serious irreparable harm and a substantial threat to the First Amendment. Trump defended the move on Truth Social, saying it targets “FAKE NEWS” that has grown “like Cancer” and is a national security threat, and warned other outlets could face similar bans. The White House Correspondents’ Association demanded immediate restoration of access, while press‑freedom groups called the action illegal and unconstitutional.

The administration has also opened the briefing room to bloggers and online influencers seen as favorable. CNN was removed as the television pool representative for Trump’s New York visit. The White House did not immediately comment.
