PSA International is considering selling a minority stake in its container terminal operations in Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai, according to people familiar with the matter. The company has contacted advisers about potentially working on a deal. It may seek a valuation of $2 billion including debt for the assets, the people said. Discussions are only at an early stage and might not lead to a sale. A representative for PSA declined to comment.

PSA, which used to be known as Port of Singapore Authority until 1997, operates deep-sea ports and rail and inland terminals in about 45 countries, including two flagship ports in Singapore and Belgium. Annual handling capacity at its Mumbai facility has increased to 4.8 million 20-foot equivalent units, or TEUs.

PSA first invested in India in 1998. It has container terminals in Mumbai and Chennai, container freight stations in Mumbai and Mundra through subsidiary PSA Ameya, as well as a supply chain business via affiliate PSA BDP.
