Brookfield Asset Management has secured a long-term, multi-asset investment mandate from the UK's Nuclear Liabilities Fund (NLF) with an initial commitment of $1bn. The discretionary mandate allows Brookfield to deploy capital across its full range of strategies, including infrastructure, energy, private equity, real estate, and private credit, through funds, direct investments, and co-investments. Alper Daglioglu, Head of Brookfield’s Investment Solutions Group, emphasized the partnership’s foundation in long-term thinking, disciplined capital allocation, and the power of compounding over decades.

He noted that Brookfield will customize a portfolio aligned with NLF’s objectives and adapt it as needs evolve. The NLF, which ensures funding for decommissioning eight UK nuclear power stations, selected Brookfield after a competitive process due to its global investment depth, long-term perspective, and disciplined governance. Chief executive Melissa Hope highlighted these strengths as key differentiators.

Brookfield recently reported record Q2 results, raising $77bn in the quarter and completing its acquisition of Oaktree to enhance private credit capabilities. While Brookfield holds a majority stake in Westinghouse alongside Cameco, that nuclear ownership is separate from this mandate and sits on the asset side of its business.
