Riot Ends 2XKO Development December 2026

Riot Games announced it will end active development of its tag-team fighting game 2XKO in December 2026, citing unsustainable player retention. The game launched with decent player counts but numbers dwindled quickly after players experienced the gameplay.

This decision follows a prior round of layoffs that cut about half the development team. In its announcement, Riot stated the game's trajectory "is painting a clear, consistent picture" that retention isn't sustainable.

Before development stops, Riot plans a final patch adding League of Legends champions Lux and Samira, unlocking all champions for all players, and refunding purchases made before the announcement. Avatars and profile items will be unlockable with in-game credits.

Riot emphasized December 2026 isn't necessarily the end — servers will remain online for online play until further notice, and the game will remain playable offline indefinitely even if servers eventually shut down.
