Defensive Backfield Reinforcements

The Giants addressed their cornerback need by agreeing to a one-year deal worth up to $10 million with Greg Newsome II. Similarly, the Packers bolstered their secondary depth by signing Benjamin St-Juste to a two-year, $10 million contract. These moves come as analysts sorted through free agency's opening day, with some questioning the support around quarterbacks like C.J. Stroud while noting a player-friendly contract for center Tyler Linderbaum. The signings represent targeted, cost-controlled additions for two NFC teams seeking defensive improvements ahead of the 2024 season.
