Rangers Rebound After No-Hit Loss
The Rangers exploded for eight runs in the first inning Tuesday night, a night after Houston pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter against Texas. Joc Pederson capped the offensive onslaught with a three-run homer, helping Texas bounce back from the previous night's no-hit defeat. Meanwhile, the Rays saw their pitching depth tested when right-hander Griffin Jax left his start against the Orioles after being hit in the back by a line drive in the second inning.
Cubs Continue Freefall
Chicago's losing streak reached 10 games after the Cubs were routed 12-1 by the Pirates on Tuesday night, extending their season-worst skid. In an attempt to address their struggles, the team announced a rehab plan for left-hander Matthew Boyd, who is scheduled to make the first of two expected rehab starts for Triple-A Iowa this Sunday.
