Joc Pederson capped an eight-run first inning with a three-run homer as the Texas Rangers buried the Houston Astros 10-7 on Tuesday night. Eight runs in the first erased the sting of a 9-0 no-hit loss 24 hours earlier, when Imai, Okert, and rookie Alimber Santa shut down Texas. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak.

Brandon Nimmo started the rally with a single before Jake Burger drove in two runs. Evan Carter added a triple and Ezequiel Duran followed with a double. Pederson's 399-foot blast was his fourth homer of the season. Six straight batters reached base after his initial strikeout.

The eight-run first was the second-biggest for a team coming off a no-hit loss in MLB history. Chicago's nine-run first in 1905 holds the record. Texas had not scored eight in a first inning since 2012.
