Xbox Cloud Gaming Introduces Monthly Time Limits in November

Microsoft is implementing monthly time limits for Xbox Cloud Gaming starting in November, ending unlimited streaming for Game Pass subscribers. Game Pass Essential will include 5 hours, Premium 10 hours, and Ultimate 15 hours of cloud streaming per month. Once the allotment is exhausted, users must pay for additional hours via the Xbox Store.

Xbox states the change affects only around 4% of subscribers, suggesting casual streamers will not notice significant disruption. However, heavy users relying on cloud as their primary play method will be impacted. Pricing for extra hours has not been announced, though Xbox admitted the practical result is a higher cost for some players.

The cap is notably tighter than NVIDIA GeForce Now's 100-hour monthly limit. Microsoft cites rising cloud infrastructure costs as the reason, framing the move as part of a push toward profitability following recent layoffs.
