TSMC Adds $100B to Arizona Expansion

TSMC confirmed a $100B investment to expand its Arizona facility, bringing total U.S. spending to $165B. The new capital will add four fabs, with supply‑chain partners contributing roughly $30B.

A January purchase of 900 acres across the highway from the existing campus positions the company to raise additional capacity. The expansion will be financed over several years, aligning with the typical decade‑long build‑out of advanced fabs.

TSMC’s record second‑quarter earnings underpin the decision, and the company has already earmarked a $45B spend for 2026 alone. Balancing U.S. growth with parallel investments in Taiwan, the Arizona project is expected to take half a decade or more to complete.

This move marks one of the largest external investments in the U.S., signaling a drive for supply‑chain independence and reinforcing the region’s semiconductor ecosystem.
