Following record second‑quarter earnings, TSMC has confirmed one of its most ambitious expansion plans in the United States to secure advanced manufacturing. Earlier this year, TSMC was reportedly preparing a $100 billion investment package to add four more fabs to its Arizona facility. Now, the decision appears finalized, and TSMC is boosting its investment in Arizona.

Approximately $165 billion has already been invested in Arizona, and the additional $100 billion will make this one of the largest external investments in the U.S., to bolster domestic supply chains. Its supply chain partners are expected to contribute about $30 billion of the total, signaling a surge in supply‑chain independence.

In January, TSMC purchased an additional 900 acres of land directly across the highway from the existing site north of Phoenix, preparing to expand its campus to support cutting‑edge production. This new capacity will be supported by the additional funding, even as the company continues to invest back home in Taiwan.

Capital expenditures of this magnitude unfold over multiple years, sometimes nearly a decade, from design to site construction. TSMC recently approved a record $45 billion package for 2026 alone, indicating that the Arizona expansion will span at least half a decade or more to meet growing demand.
