Super People Battle Royale Game Shuts Down After Player Counts Plummet

Super People, a battle royale game that combined first-person shooter gameplay with superpowers, has shut down permanently after player counts dwindled to just 99 daily concurrent players. The game, developed by Wonder Games, had previously closed in 2023 due to mixed reviews and rampant cheating issues. It relaunched in September 2025 with an Early Access model after successful closed beta tests and a revamped development approach.

At its peak, Super People attracted over 47,000 players, but numbers dropped to 4,514 following the September relaunch. The game will be taken offline on February 23, 2026, with in-game purchases disabled on February 13. Wonder Games is offering refunds to players who bought premium currency within seven days of the shutdown announcement. The studio is currently developing World of the Dead, an upcoming zombie FPS game that combines first-person shooter and extraction PvPvE genres, though no release date has been announced.

This marks the second closure for Super People, highlighting the challenges faced by battle royale games in maintaining player engagement. The rapid decline in player counts despite a relaunch demonstrates how difficult it is for games to recover from initial setbacks in the highly competitive gaming market. Wonder Games' future now depends on the success of their upcoming World of the Dead project.
