Samsung's new Exynos 2600 chip, featuring an Xclipse 960 GPU co-developed with AMD, is already posting impressive early benchmarks. In Geekbench 6 OpenCL tests, the GPU scored 24,964 points, claiming the top spot on Android's performance charts.

This result puts Samsung ahead of Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 by over 1,000 points in the Honor Magic8 Pro. The performance leap is significant, as Samsung claims the 960 delivers double the GPU power of its predecessor, the Xclipse 950.

The chip even holds its own against Windows-on-Arm laptops, outpacing the Snapdragon X Elite's Adreno X1-85 GPU in a Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x. These early figures suggest Samsung and AMD's partnership is closing the performance gap that has historically separated its SoCs from Qualcomm's flagship offerings.
