Samsung's upcoming Exynos 2600 chipset has delivered a stunning performance in ray tracing benchmarks, posting 8,321 points in Basemark's In Vitro 1.0 test. This score puts the Xclipse 960 GPU ahead of both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5's Adreno 840 by 8% and the MediaTek Dimensity 9500's Mali-G1-Ultra by 17%.

The Xclipse 960 leverages AMD's latest RDNA 4 ray tracing technology, the same architecture powering current-generation AMD graphics cards. This positions the Exynos 2600 as a graphics powerhouse for the base Galaxy S26 models in certain markets. However, recent reports indicate the Exynos still trails Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon in single-core performance tests, suggesting a mixed bag for Samsung's in-house silicon.

While the ray tracing prowess is impressive, the Exynos 2600's real-world performance will depend on how well Samsung optimizes the chip for everyday use. The chipset, built on a 2nm process, represents a significant leap for Samsung's mobile processor division. For gamers and graphics enthusiasts, the Exynos 2600 appears to deliver on performance promises, even if it still faces challenges in overall CPU competitiveness.
