Raspberry Pi has announced significant price increases for its 4GB and higher SKUs, including the newly launched 3GB model, due to a seven-fold surge in DRAM costs. CEO Eben Upton revealed in a blog post that the company has seen the cost of LPDDR4 DRAM, used in both the Pi 4 and Pi 5, skyrocket. The price hikes range from $25 to $100 for 4GB and up models.

The new 3GB Raspberry Pi 4 launches today at $83.75. Meanwhile, the 16GB Pi 6 now costs $305, and the Pi 500+ keyboard computer reaches $410, potentially making these models uncompetitive. The 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB Pi 4 and Pi 5 SKUs, along with the Pi 400, avoid price increases this cycle.

Upton stated the company will lower prices as soon as DRAM costs decrease.
