Following the reveal of its Ryzen AI Max+ 395-powered ONEXStation, OneXPlayer is preparing to ship the X2 Mini, a compact gaming handheld utilizing the powerful AMD Strix Halo APU featuring the Radeon 8060S iGPU. This new device borrows design elements from the X1 Pro but shrinks the footprint, mirroring the approach taken with the Apex model seen earlier this year. Pricing remains undisclosed ahead of the stated May 10 launch date.

The X2 Mini packs substantial hardware into its smaller chassis, boasting an 8.8-inch, 144 Hz OLED display complete with HDR and VRR support. Powering this screen is an 85 Wh battery, which is conveniently user-swappable, offering immediate battery life extension for road warriors. This focus on modularity seems central to the handheld's appeal, setting it apart from more sealed competitors.

Further emphasizing user serviceability, the detachable controllers allow replacement of joysticks, casings, and buttons, alongside offering two distinct d-pad options—a cross and an octagonal style. A potential sticking point for some users involves the face buttons, which reportedly use micro switches, trading lower travel for slightly louder actuation compared to standard membrane pads.

Connectivity extends to a magnetic pogo pin connection, ready for an optional keyboard accessory attachment. This focus on modularity and premium display technology suggests OneXPlayer is directly targeting enthusiasts who value customization and high-fidelity visuals in a portable format. AMD Strix Halo powers the core experience.
