Omarchy 4.5, the Arch Linux-based distribution, has expanded beyond x86-64 with Apple Silicon support for M1, M2, and M3 MacBooks. This release also introduces a new floating desktop mode and preliminary support for NVIDIA Arm-based N1X laptops and DGX Spark systems. The update builds on Asahi Linux contributions and features over 740 merged pull requests from 180 contributors.
The desktop environment, powered by Hyprland, now allows users to switch workspaces between tiling, scrolling, and floating layouts via Super + L. Floating workspaces include conventional title bars, a dock with pinned apps, and an application launcher. Windows can be minimized to the dock using Super + M, and apps can be rearranged via drag-and-drop. Users can mix layouts across workspaces.
Omarchy 4.5 also adds tools for presentations, document management, disk analysis, webcam recording, SSH-based remote desktop, and world clocks. Improvements include better Microsoft 365 integration, Superwhisper dictation, and faster installation. AMD engineer Anush Elangovan demonstrated a full install in 7 seconds on an AMD laptop.
