NVIDIA Delays GeForce RTX 50-Series SUPER GPUs

NVIDIA has reportedly delayed its GeForce RTX 50-series "Blackwell" SUPER refresh, a move that surprised many following the cards' absence at CES 2026. According to leaks from the Board Channel community, NVIDIA informed its board partners about an indefinite postponement. The decision stems from two primary factors.

First, the company is prioritizing production capacity for its high-margin compute GPUs to meet overwhelming AI server demand, a more lucrative market than consumer gaming. Second, long-term forecasts predict escalating costs for GDDR7 memory, which could impact pricing and profitability for next-gen graphics cards. Interestingly, the delay may also be a strategic response to AMD, which reportedly isn't launching any next-gen consumer GPUs in 2026.

With no immediate competition, NVIDIA's current RTX 50-series lineup remains competitive. While rumors pointed to updated models like an RTX 5080 with 24 GB of VRAM, these plans are now on hold. Future refreshes are still possible, but industry attention is already shifting toward NVIDIA's next-generation "Rubin" architecture.
