MSIBlames NVIDIA for 20% GPU Shortage, Warns of 15-30% Price Hikes

MSI's top executive, Huang Jinqing, has publicly pointed the finger at NVIDIA, accusing the chipmaker of deliberately limiting GPU supplies by 20%. This shortage, Jinqing states, is driving a significant price surge, with MSI predicting a 15-30% increase across its gaming product lineup. The executive also warns this market squeeze could shrink the entire PC market by 10-20%.

Recent sales data from retailers like Mindfactory suggests the impact is already more severe, showing a sharper decline in GPU sales volume than initially expected. As a direct result of these shortages, especially for DDR5 memory, hardware manufacturers are reverting to older technology platforms. ASUS has already announced plans to boost DDR4 motherboard production, and MSI confirms it will follow suit, securing long-term memory contracts to increase its DDR4 output.
