MSI Unveils GPU Safeguard+ for Power Supply Protection

MSI has introduced GPU Safeguard+ for its MPG Ai TS Series PSUs, addressing growing concerns about connector safety with high-end power-hungry graphics cards. The new protection system for 12V-2x6 interfaces prevents hardware damage before it occurs, moving beyond traditional reactive shutdown methods to provide proactive monitoring of potential electrical issues.

Unlike standard PSUs that respond only after crashes, GPU Safeguard+ employs real-time detection to spot hidden problems before they cause melting or damage. The system features a "Save Buffer" that triggers both hardware buzzer alerts and software pop-ups, giving users time to save work or exit games safely. This smart IC tracks current values across every pin of the 12V-2x6 connector, detecting imbalances and overloads.

The solution works with all 12V-2x6 graphics cards regardless of brand, integrating with MSI Center for status monitoring and Afterburner for overclocking management. When abnormalities are detected, the PSU communicates directly with Afterburner to throttle GPU consumption without interrupting workflows, providing automated protection while maintaining system performance.
