MSI Afterburner 4.6.7 Beta 2 Adds GPU Safeguard+ Protection

MSI has released MSI Afterburner 4.6.7 Beta 2, introducing critical safety features for high-power graphics cards. The update adds support for the upcoming GeForce RTX 5090 Lightning series while integrating with MSI's GPU Safeguard+ system on select MEG Ai1x00 and MPG Ai1x00TS power supplies.

A new PSU.dll plugin enables real-time telemetry monitoring directly within Afterburner, tracking voltage, current, power, temperature, efficiency, and fan speed. For supported MPG units, the software can monitor per-pin current data on 16-pin 12VHPWR connectors. When overcurrent or current imbalance is detected, the application automatically reduces GPU power limits—typically to 75% on NVIDIA GPUs and 25% on AMD cards—while displaying on-screen warnings and sound alerts.

The update also enhances the Voltage/Frequency curve editor with zoom, pan controls, and adjustable node sizes. Users can now manipulate curves with preserved per-point offsets and use linear interpolation between nodes. While RTX 5090 Lightning support is notable, the standout feature is the monitoring-to-action pipeline that automatically protects GPUs from power connector failures before damage occurs.
