Microsoft introduced updated Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 processors, marking a significant shift in the company's hardware strategy. The devices target creative professionals and developers who need both performance and portability, with availability starting June 16 for consumers and July 14 for business customers.

The Surface Pro 13-inch starts at $1,499 and delivers up to 53% faster graphics performance compared to its predecessor. It features a 1440p Quad HD camera, optional OLED display with improved color accuracy, and up to 15.5 hours of battery life. The 2-in-1 design maintains full Windows compatibility while offering tablet flexibility for sketching and notetaking workflows.

Surface Laptop models come in 13.8-inch and 15-inch variants starting at $1,599, offering up to 58% more graphics performance and 20 hours of battery life. The 15-inch model increases pixel density from 201 PPI to 262 PPI, while a new Jade color joins Platinum, Black, and Dune options. Both devices integrate dedicated NPU silicon for on-device AI processing.

Microsoft emphasizes sustainability with 100% recycled aluminum enclosures and ENERGY STAR certification exceeding efficiency baselines by 50%. New haptic feedback on touchpads and Slim Pen provides tactile responses during window snapping, video scrubbing, and creative applications. Limited-time offers include free keyboards or mice with purchases through June 30.

These updates position Microsoft to compete directly with Apple's iPad Pro and MacBook Air in the premium thin-and-light segment while betting on ARM-based computing for AI workloads.
