During the Xbox Games Showcase, Metro 2039 debuted its first gameplay trailer, revealing three minutes of in-game footage featuring Hunter, the new antagonist who has seized control through lies and propaganda. The game launches in February 2027 on Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Epic Games Store.

Players will experience iconic METRO mechanics and diegetic survival elements while utilizing new tools like The Shatun stealth weapon and a breaching charge to navigate the dark Metro environment.

Hunter, once a revered Spartan leader protecting the Metro, has transformed into the very enemy his order once fought. The protagonist, The Stranger, despises Hunter for his lies and hypocrisy, seeking to stop the Fuhrer's regime. The game explores corruption and the fall of noble protectors in a post-apocalyptic setting.
