Meta has signed an agreement to deploy AWS Graviton processors at scale, expanding a long-standing cloud partnership as it builds next-generation AI. Tens of millions of cores will launch first, with room to grow alongside Meta’s ambitions. Agentic AI shifts compute demand toward CPU-heavy tasks like real-time reasoning, code generation and orchestration, areas where purpose-built silicon promises efficiency and speed at massive scale.

Graviton5 delivers 192 cores and a cache five times larger than its predecessor, cutting core-to-core delays by up to 33% while boosting bandwidth. Built on 3-nanometer technology and the AWS Nitro System, it offers bare-metal access, Elastic Fabric Adapter support and tightly integrated security. AWS claims 25% better performance than the prior generation without sacrificing energy efficiency, aligning with Meta’s cost and sustainability pressures.

Meta relies on AWS infrastructure to coordinate billions of interactions and multi-step agent workflows across global services. By diversifying compute sources, the company gains headroom for CPU-intensive workloads that GPUs handle poorly, from search to frontier model training. Purpose-built chips now underpin smarter, personalized experiences for billions of people worldwide.
