Marathon Vault Breaker Beta Extended to August 18

Bungie has extended Marathon's Vault Breaker PvE beta until August 18, pushing back the original August 4 end date. The roguelite mode launched on July 21 but yielded only a modest concurrent player increase.

The extension follows a July 28 update introducing a solo-only queue with adjusted combat difficulty, increased critical damage against UESC combatants, and reduced enemy aggression and accuracy. These changes aim to make solo play less punishing.

The Marathon Development Team announced the decision on X, thanking players for feedback during the Cryo testing period. Bungie plans to permanently expand PvE gameplay with a mid-season update during Season 3 in September, making extended playtesting data crucial.

Solo players seeking a challenge can still select Trios with Crew Fill disabled. The studio is using this experimental mode to gauge long-term interest and retention before committing to broader PvE integration.
