Konami has partnered with Evil Empire and Motion Twin to develop Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, a 2026 2D action-adventure game set in 1499 Paris. The game follows Trevor Belmont's successor as she wields the iconic holy whip for both combat and traversal through a looming castle and eerie Parisian streets.

This marks the second collaboration between Konami and the French indie developers, who previously worked together on Dead Cells' Castlevania crossover DLC. The new title blends classic Castlevania mechanics like secret chambers, buried items, and challenging boss battles with a colorful twist on the series' gothic art style. The aesthetic appears to merge Dead Cells' distinctive look with the vampire-killing franchise's signature atmosphere.

Belmont's Curse will feature fast-paced combat, multiple weapons and abilities, environmental puzzles, and numerous enemies. The game is slated for release on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles in 2026, though no specific date has been announced. The partnership leverages the indie developers' expertise in creating engaging 2D action games while staying true to Castlevania's core gameplay elements.
