Intel Nova Lake-S 28-Core Launch Before 52-Core Flagship

Intel is laying groundwork for its Core Ultra 400 "Nova Lake-S" desktop processors with a staggered launch schedule, according to VideoCardz. The lineup features up to 8 "Coyote Cove" P-Cores and 16 "Arctic Wolf" E-Cores plus 4 LPE-Cores on the I/O die. Single compute die SKUs deliver up to 28-core configurations, while dual die variants enable a 52-core flagship.

The 28-core "DS" version targets Q1 2027 (late January to March), followed by overclocking-focused "K" SKUs in early Q2 2027 (March to April). Mainstream 16-core and 8-core models arrive later in Q2 (late March to May). The dual-die 52-core powerhouse is slated for late May through September 2027.

This phased rollout likely stems from Intel's shift to produce most compute tiles on its 18A node internally. As the company ramps high-volume 18A manufacturing, it needs additional time to stockpile fully functional compute dies for the flagship 52-core SKUs, which require double the compute tiles of 28-core designs.
