Benchmark leaks reveal Intel's Arc G3 Extreme CPU is showing promising performance figures that could disrupt the handheld gaming market. The upcoming chip will power the new MSI Claw handheld, bringing Intel into direct competition with AMD's dominant Ryzen Z series. Early results suggest the 14-core processor could significantly change the competitive dynamics in portable gaming devices.

PassMark benchmarks show the Arc G3 Extreme scoring 29,622 points in multicore testing and 4,288 points in single-core tests. This represents roughly 20% better performance than the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme, which has become ubiquitous in handheld gaming. The impressive CPU performance could give Intel a much-needed foothold in the growing portable gaming market.

However, Intel's historical weakness in maintaining performance at lower power levels remains a concern, as the TDP during these tests remains undisclosed. GPU tests haven't been conducted yet, but the Arc B380 integrated GPU is expected to perform similarly to the Arc B390, which already outperformed AMD's Radeon 890M in previous testing. The actual gaming performance will depend heavily on thermal management in the handheld form factor.
