Intel's 18A node is officially space-grade, with a new "Starfire" generation of processors designed for orbital computing. Intel has designated two SKUs, each featuring an eight-core SoC design consisting of four P-Cores and four LPE-Cores.

The Low Power edition tunes P-Cores to 1.0 GHz and LPE-Cores to 850 MHz with a 10 W TDP. The Performance version increases P-Core frequency to 3.1 GHz and LPE-Cores to 2.1 GHz, capped at a 35 W TDP. Both versions include a GPU tile built on the Intel 3 node and an NPU providing between 45 and 75 TOPS.

To survive the unpredictable space environment, "Starfire" operates within a T-Junction range from -55°C to 125°C. The chips feature TID, SEL, and SEE radiation hardening certifications to prevent bit-flips and degradation from ionizing radiation. Intel targets Q3 for samples.
