HWiNFO updated its hardware diagnostics utility to version 8.42 on February 24th, with enhanced support for Intel's upcoming "Nova Lake" processor family. This development occurs months before Intel's Nova Lake processors reach commercial markets, giving enthusiasts early diagnostic capabilities and a glimpse into Intel's next-generation computing architecture.

The utility now distinguishes between Intel processors and can run diagnostics on engineering samples of Nova Lake-S models. This early support suggests the tool recognizes Nova Lake's unique processor ID, which has also appeared in recent compiler patches for GCC and LLVM, indicating the processors are progressing toward launch despite not being commercially available for several quarters.

HWiNFO v8.42 also introduces NPU stress testing functionality, though this feature remains exclusive to the Pro version. The update provides valuable insight into Intel's roadmap and allows hardware enthusiasts to prepare for the next processor generation before it reaches store shelves, demonstrating how diagnostic tools evolve alongside hardware development.
