HiBy has launched the RS2 II, a compact portable Hi-Fi player built around the company's third-generation DARWIN III audio architecture, the same platform found in the flagship RS8 II. Targeted at audiophiles who want flagship-level sound in a smaller, more portable device, the RS2 II combines HiBy's proprietary R2R technology, a fully balanced analog stage, HiByOS, and flexible connectivity.

The DARWIN III architecture is powered by a newly developed FPGA digital engine with more than 35K logic units and 40 high-speed DSP units, enabling adjustable pure FIR filters, multiple DARWIN filters, harmonic control, NOS/OS switching, and native DSD processing. Digital-to-analog conversion uses a high-precision R2R resistor network driven by high-speed electronic switches to reduce high-frequency noise.

The analog stage features a four-stage OPA1612 signal chain, while four flagship-grade OPA1622 amplifiers deliver independent four-channel current amplification at the headphone output. The device is more compact than its predecessor, weighing just 156 g, with a 45% larger display area and 122% higher resolution on its 3.55-inch 480x800 screen.

Powered by an upgraded X1600 E dual-core platform and running HiBy OS, the RS2 II supports coaxial output, Line Out, and USB DAC functionality with dual micro SD slots for up to 4 TB storage. The aluminium Alloy Edition is priced at US$439, while the Limited Brass Edition costs US$549 with only 500 units planned for worldwide release in October.
