Google has confirmed that detachable Googlebooks with removable keyboards are on the way. During its Android Dev Summit 2026 keynote, the company announced its Chromebook successor will span clamshells, convertibles, and soon detachables. No dates, prices, or specific models were shared.
The current lineup is dominated by clamshells, with the Acer Googlebook 14 being the only convertible. Lenovo is expected to launch the first detachable model, likely the Googlebook Duet m, codenamed "Sapphire." This device recently appeared in the Bluetooth SIG database, and its keyboard and Lenovo Pen Pro stylus have cleared FCC certification under IDs O57DUET13BTKB and O57AP501U1. The keyboard features Googlebook branding and supports both pogo pin attachment and Bluetooth LE connectivity.
Leaks suggest a 13-inch OLED display and a MediaTek processor, though exact specifications remain unconfirmed. Software compatibility remains a challenge, as Googlebook OS appears optimized for landscape use and may not fully support upright tablet mode. While FCC filings indicate an imminent launch, Lenovo has not yet revealed official specs or pricing.
