A recent leak suggests Epic Games is preparing to launch seven new game modes for Fortnite as part of a strategy to boost player engagement following significant layoffs at the company. The layoffs, which affected approximately 16% of Epic's workforce, were attributed to overspending and declining revenue in the battle royale shooter. CEO Tim Sweeney promised to deliver "Fortnite magic" through upcoming updates.

Data miner @Loolo_WRLD discovered references to new modes in the game's update files, including "WickedSmoke," a social-first mode similar to Delulu that uses proximity chat, and "UnableRoman," a team deathmatch variant. Other modes include Lego-themed experiences like "Rivalry" with mechs and "CurioBox," plus "MatchMist" for the fast-paced Reload mode. Two modes, "Bulldog" and "Husky," appear connected to Disney content.

The leak comes at a critical time for Fortnite as Epic seeks to diversify its player base and increase engagement metrics. While release dates remain unclear, the presence of these modes in update logs suggests they could arrive in the coming months as part of Epic's broader strategy to revitalize the game.
