At CES 2026, Cooler Master unveiled its GPU Shield technology to combat the persistent issue of 12V-2x6 connector melting in high-power graphics cards. This innovation is integrated into two new product lines: the MWE Gold V4 PSUs (750W-1000W) and a standalone drop-in GPU power adaptor. The system addresses a critical hardware vulnerability where improper seating of power cables leads to catastrophic failure.

GPU Shield utilizes a dual-pronged approach: it provides immediate visual feedback via red or green LEDs during installation to ensure a secure connection, and it actively monitors current flow in real-time. If imbalances or abnormalities are detected, the system intervenes to prevent overheating. This launch follows similar preventative measures by competitors like ASRock, highlighting an industry-wide push to solve the 'meltdown' controversy surrounding modern high-end GPUs.

By offering a standalone adaptor, Cooler Master allows users to retrofit existing setups without the expense of a full PSU replacement.
