After Microsoft's layoffs of 3,200 workers at Xbox studios, including Bethesda, sparked protests, the Communications Workers of America (CWA) announced that nearly 1,900 Blizzard employees have ratified a new union contract. The agreement includes wage increases, a hybrid work schedule with two remote days per week, remote work and disability accommodations, and protections against generative AI. Blizzard President Johanna Faries praised the dedication of employees and bargaining committees, calling the ratification a significant milestone.

This move follows similar unionization efforts at Rockstar Games, where workers formed the Rockstar IWGB Game Workers Union in response to alleged unfair firings and layoff fears after GTA VI's launch. The trend highlights growing labor organizing in the gaming industry.
