Bazzite 44 Official Handheld Launch

The development team of Bazzite has officially launched the stable handheld version of Bazzite 44, bringing extensive updates for gaming devices from Lenovo, ASUS, MSI, and Ayaneo. This release follows a late-April delay necessitated by additional development requirements.

A major shift in this update is the replacement of Handheld Daemon (HHD) with InputPlumber for controller support, emulation, and input remapping. Legacy HHD functionalities, such as TDP management, will now be handled by SteamOS-Manager or PowerStation on compatible hardware.

While several Fedora plugins are now operational and Game Mode integrates Bazzite updates, some temporary regressions persist. The Legion Go specifically lacks gyro support in desktop mode until an official patch arrives. Furthermore, certain ASUS and Ayn devices have lost RGB lighting and fan controls because of incorrect controller emulation. The developers acknowledge these issues and confirm that targeted patches are already in progress to restore complete feature parity for all supported hardware. This comprehensive update marks a significant milestone for the immutable, gaming-focused Linux ecosystem, ensuring smoother performance across diverse handheld architectures.
