ASUS has unveiled the ROG Kithara, a high-end gaming headset featuring planar magnetic drivers from renowned audio specialist HIFIMAN. Announced at CES, this partnership signals ASUS's serious entry into the audiophile-grade gaming gear market, leveraging HIFIMAN's acclaimed driver technology. The Kithara features an open-back design, a significant departure from typical closed-back gaming headsets, aimed at delivering superior soundstage and fidelity.

It boasts an impressive frequency response of 8 Hz to 55 kHz and a low 16-ohm impedance. The headset is strictly wired, forgoing RGB lighting and wireless connectivity to focus purely on audio performance. It includes versatile connectivity options with two cables: one featuring a MEMS boom microphone and another balanced cable compatible with 4.4mm, 3.5mm, and 6.3mm jacks.

A USB-C adapter is also provided. Priced at an MSRP of $359, the Kithara comes with both velour and leatherette ear cushions, positioning it as a premium competitor in the high-fidelity gaming audio space.
