AMD is preparing to launch its Ryzen AI 400 series desktop APUs for the AM5 platform in early 2026, according to a new leak from Moore's Law is Dead. The leak suggests the desktop processors could arrive as early as Q1 2026, following their mobile counterparts that debuted at CES 2026. The leakster also shared what appears to be promotional footage of an AMD Ryzen AI 400 Pro processor installed in an AM5 socket.

The specifications for these desktop APUs remain unconfirmed, but they're expected to mirror the Strix Point silicon found in laptop versions with adjusted power management and higher clock speeds. If the laptop architecture carries over, users can anticipate up to 12 CPU cores (4× Zen 5; 8× Zen 5c) paired with a 16 CU RDNA 3.5 integrated GPU and a 60 TOPS NPU. This configuration would position the Ryzen AI 400 desktop chips as significant performers in the APU market.

This launch timing aligns with AMD's typical product cadence and could help the company maintain momentum in the desktop CPU space while Intel prepares its next-generation offerings. The early 2026 window gives AMD time to optimize the mobile architecture for desktop use cases while potentially addressing any thermal or power delivery challenges unique to the AM5 platform.
