Porsche is introducing native NACS ports for the 2027 Taycan, alongside a significant infotainment upgrade. The driver’s side retains the J1772 AC port, while the other charging ports now support the North American Charging Standard. This change aligns with Porsche’s broader shift toward standardized charging infrastructure, making public charging more convenient for U.S. buyers.

The infotainment system receives a major hardware refresh with the Porsche Communication Management module, now reportedly up to five times faster than before. New features include more customizable widgets and an integrated personal assistant, all delivered through fully over-the-air updates. These improvements address previous criticisms of the system’s sluggish performance and limited customization.

The Taycan Turbo GT now comes standard with E-Shift, a feature that simulates a traditional automatic transmission using paddle shifters. Other trims require the GT Sport steering wheel to access this mode, which adjusts throttle mapping and regenerative braking. Porsche joins Hyundai and Honda in adding playful driving dynamics to EVs, though the system remains optional for those who prefer simpler operation.

These updates refine the Taycan’s daily usability while expanding its appeal to driving enthusiasts. By blending practical charging improvements with engaging performance features, Porsche strengthens the Taycan’s position in the competitive electric sportscar market.
