Perplexity Unveils Multi-Agent AI System

Perplexity has launched "Computer," a new AI tool that coordinates multiple specialized agents to complete complex tasks. The service, available to Perplexity Max subscribers, creates entire workflows by breaking down user goals like "plan a marketing campaign" or "build an Android app" and assigning subtasks to different models based on their strengths.

Computer leverages different AI models for specific tasks: Claude Opus 4.6 for core reasoning, Gemini for deep research, Nano Banana for image generation, Veo 3.1 for video production, and ChatGPT 5.2 for long-context recall. Unlike competitors like Claude Cowork that use only one provider's models, Perplexity's approach uses the best model for each specific task.

Running entirely in the cloud with prebuilt integrations, Computer addresses security concerns of earlier agentic AI tools like OpenClaw. While offering a more controlled environment than OpenClaw's "Wild West" of unverified plugins, the system still carries risks as LLMs can make mistakes with potentially consequential results.
